According to a report from Portuguese outlet , Fulham head coach Silva is close to reaching an agreement with Tottenham to replace the sacked Ange Postecoglou. Although the decision has not been made final, Silva will be vying for the role at Spurs with Brentford boss Frank, who the media in UK claim to be in pole position to take charge of the north London outfit.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite leading Spurs to their first trophy since 2008, firing them to Europa League glory two weeks ago, Spurs decided to relieve Postecoglou of his duties in what came as a shocking move. The Australian oversaw Spurs' worst Premier League finish as they finished in 17th place with only 38 points. In the aftermath of his sacking, several Premier League managers such as Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola and Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner have also been linked with the role, although Frank and Silva seem to be the top two candidates as things stand.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The higher-ups at Spurs have also looked for suitable replacements overseas. Indeed, Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi was also approached by the Lilywhites, but Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Italian rejected the advances from the Europa League champions in favour of continuing at Stade Velodrome for at least another season.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SPURS?

While Frank might be the favourite to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a reunion with USA head coach Mauricio Pochettino has not been ruled out. It remains to be seen who Spurs end up appointing, especially considering the financial challenges involved in the pursuit of the aforementioned Premier League managers.
