ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Atalanta were able to bridge the gap and match the English club's demands to accelerate Muniz's transfer. However, with the Premier League already underway, Fulham have yet to find a replacement for the forward. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the deal is at risk of collapsing if the Cottagers are unable to find a replacement for their frontline. The Brazilian forward is reportedly also interested in moving to Italy.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
It was Muniz who rescued a point for Fulham in the dying seconds of their opening game of the Premier League campaign against Brighton. Marco Silva's team were a goal down with seconds remaining when Harry Wilson's corner deflected off the head of a Brighton defender and landed at the feet of the Brazilian, who slid it calmly into the net. After showing his importance to the team, Fulham are willing to block the €40m (£34m/$46m) deal to keep him at Craven Cottage.

DID YOU KNOW?
Fulham are reportedly interested in signing Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United as a replacement for Muniz. However, AC Milan are also chasing his signature. Hojlund still has not decided his next step after being dropped from United's opening game and being told that he will have to scramble for minutes at the club this season.

WHAT NEXT FOR FULHAM?
The Cottagers only have two leading options at the club to compete for the starting striker position – Muniz and Raul Jimenez. Jimenez has been injury-prone lately. This makes it essential for the club to sign a striker before offloading one. The window closes on September 1, and Atalanta will hope both clubs find their forwards by then.
